These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of fungiathome.com (the “Site”), operated by FungiAtHome. By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
1. The Site
FungiAtHome provides general educational articles, checklists, and tools about growing edible gourmet mushrooms at home—ready-to-fruit kits, common species, humidity and fruiting basics, and troubleshooting. We are not a licensed laboratory, seed company, medical provider, or food-safety authority. Content is for informational purposes for home hobbyists.
2. Scope of content
The Site focuses on culinary / gourmet home growing. You are responsible for complying with all applicable laws where you live regarding species, sales, and cultivation. Do not use the Site to seek or share illegal cultivation advice.
3. No professional advice
- Not personalized consulting. Guides do not create a client relationship. Your kit brand, substrate, climate, and sanitation habits all change outcomes.
- Not medical advice. We do not diagnose illness, recommend mushrooms as treatment, or make health claims. If you have food allergies, immune concerns, or questions about edibility of a specimen, consult a qualified professional—not this Site.
- Not a substitute for labels. Always follow grow-kit instructions, tool manuals, and product labels. Manufacturer guidance wins over any general article here.
- Tools are helpers, not diagnoses. Checklists and checkers are approximate. Contamination decisions (keep, isolate, or discard) are yours. When in doubt, discard contaminated material safely and start clean.
For structural mold in a home, food poisoning, or respiratory distress, contact local emergency services or appropriate professionals—not our email inbox.
4. Growing and food-safety responsibility
You agree that you alone are responsible for safe home growing and cooking practices, including:
- Identifying and handling contamination (including mold) without exposing others
- Not eating mushrooms you cannot confidently identify as the intended edible crop
- Cooking and storage practices appropriate for fresh mushrooms
- Keeping kits, bags, and tools away from children and pets where needed
- Complying with local laws on disposal, commerce, and species
Misuse, misidentification, or ignoring contamination can cause illness, property damage, or other harm. FungiAtHome is not liable for your growing or eating decisions.
5. Affiliate links and products
Some pages include links to Amazon and other retailers. If you buy through those links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Product names, prices, availability, and shipping are controlled by the retailer. See our Affiliate Disclosure. We do not guarantee that any product is right for your setup or that a kit will fruit successfully.
6. Intellectual property
Text, graphics, logos, layout, and original materials on the Site are owned by FungiAtHome or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. If you send us feedback, tips, or corrections, you grant FungiAtHome a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use that material to improve the Site (without publishing your email publicly unless you agree). Do not send confidential or proprietary information you are not willing to share. Do not send photos that include children or other people without a clear right to share them.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT, TOOLS, AND LINKS ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that content is complete, accurate, current, or error-free, or that the Site will be uninterrupted or secure. Growing results vary; we do not guarantee harvests.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FUNGIATHOME AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SITE, RELIANCE ON CONTENT, USE OF TOOLS, GROWING OR COOKING DECISIONS, OR PURCHASES VIA AFFILIATE LINKS—EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE SITE SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100) OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (IF ANY), WHICHEVER IS GREATER. 13. Changes
We may modify these Terms by posting an updated version with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, stop using the Site.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the Site operator principally resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protections in your country apply. Courts in that state shall have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to applicable law.
